Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi Lactoabcillus reuteri Prodentis dan SRP secara bermakna memberikan efek yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan semua modalitas lainnya dalam menurunkan gingivitis dan plak. Selanjutnya Lactobacillus reuteri baik sebagai agen tunggal maupun dikombinasikan dengan SRP secara bermakna menurunkan pertumbuhan beberapa bakteri patogen seperti: Aggregibacter actinomycetemcomitans, Porphyromonas gingivalis dan Prevotella intermedia sebesar 90% dibandingkan dengan tindakan yang tanpa diberikan Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis.
Dan juga kombinasi antara Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis dan SRP secara bermakna lebih baik jika dibandingkan dengan SRP saja dalam neurunkan baik PPD dan CAL dengan p<0,001. Studi jangka pendek ini menekankan bahwa Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis sendiri mempunyai efek yang kuat terhadap bakteri patogen pada periodontitis dan kombinasi antara Lactoabcillus reuteri Prodentis dengan SRP bersifat sinergistik dalam memperbaiki baik PPD dan CAL, dan studi ini juag menekankan bahwa Lacotbacillus reuteri Prodentis terbukti efektif sebagai pilihan pengobatan untuk pasien dengan penyakit periodontitis.
